Replaced a 7 year old single speed pump with this variable speed pump. Installation was relatively simple, although I did have to replumb because the inlets and outlets didn’t match up. Even with new plumbing and some electrical rework, it only took a couple of hours to install.I configured the pump to be controlled by an external controller and it was easy enough to set up. In fact, it worked on the first try. The instructions on how to set the pump’s serial bus address could have been clearer, though. With the pump now up and running, I regret not installing a variable speed pump sooner. At max speed it’s much quieter than my old pump, but at 50-75% speed you can barely hear it running. It also reports its real-time electricity usage, so you can easily see the relationship between pump speed and electricity usage (it’s much more efficient from an energy perspective to run at lower speeds for longer, which is why VS pumps are the new norm).Overall, very pleased so far. The real test will be in a few years. I have a saltwater pool and it’s eventually rusted out previous pumps.
